Back to Studies

Starting sixth form, college or university calls for footwear that feels more grown up than traditional school shoes, without being overly formal. The Base London Back to Studies collection features versatile men’s smart-casual shoes and black trainers designed for lectures, presentations, part-time work, social plans and everything in between.

If you’re wondering what shoes your son can wear for sixth form, a clean pair of black sneakers is a practical place to start. They offer the familiar comfort and relaxed feel of trainers while looking polished enough to complement chinos, tailored trousers, jeans or a smarter college dress code. For sixth forms with stricter footwear rules, the collection also includes refined smart-casual styles that bridge the gap between formal shoes and everyday trainers.

Comfort matters when students are walking between lectures, commuting to campus or spending long days on their feet. Selected Base London shoes feature cushioned Ortholite® insoles, which provide lightweight, breathable comfort throughout the day. This makes them a strong choice for students looking for comfortable shoes that are still smart enough for sixth form, college or university.

Built around wearable colours and easy-to-style silhouettes, these are shoes that will work well beyond the classroom. Black trainers can be dressed up with an overshirt and trousers or worn casually with jeans and a sweatshirt, while smarter styles are ready for interviews, presentations, placements and special occasions.
